Pool Closing and Pool Winterizing

Professional Pool Closing and Pool Winterizing

The winters in and around Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC can range from mild to brutal. It is very important that swimming pools be prepared for whatever type of weather may hit them during the winter months. At Subcomm Pools, we specialize in pool closings and pool winterizing; both tasks being crucial to protecting your pool during these uncertain months.

As part of our closing and winterizing process, we will do the follow:

Balance the water chemistry so it falls within acceptable ranges for pH, alkalinity, and calcium hardness.

Shock the pool and add winter algaecide to prevent algae growth.

Remove skimmer baskets, wall fittings, cleaners, solar blankets, ladders (if requested) from the pool.

Lower water level in pool to below skimmer level and tile.

Drain all pumping, filtering, heating and chlorinating equipment to prevent water from freezing within, thus causing damage to these parts.

Winterize the plumbing to and from the pool by blowing out water from the lines from the skimmer. Plugging lines with expansion plugs.

Cover the pool.
